Internet Computer Developments
- The ICP Community Conference has been added to the list of official BTC Week events on the Bitcoin2023 website, in a great endorsement for the ICP community!
- The Internet Computer (ICP) announced on April 3 that ckBTC is now fully released. The adoption of Proposals 115468, 115470, and 115473 was successful thanks to the manual votes of the ICP community. With the release, holders of Bitcoin (BTC) can now convert their holdings into ckBTC and utilize it on the ICP platform.
- Encode Club is hosting the Internet Computer BUIDL Bitcoin Hackathon powered by DFINITY. Participants can design DeFi solutions, rapid payment systems, and secure non-custodial Bitcoin wallets.
- Dominic W announced that there is a community bounty from Dfinity. The bounty is for a total of 5,000 $ICP and is for coding a decentralized file/web server sample dapp. The bounty will be divided among the winner and runners-up in three weeks.
- DFINITY is calling on the community to celebrate the upcoming 2nd anniversary of ICP by submitting a 60-second video for a chance to win 1000 ICP. The submission deadline is May 1st, and creators are encouraged to share their videos in the comments of the tweet.
- DFINITY announced that ckBTC is becoming increasingly popular and is now compatible with various on-chain wallets like ME Wallet and Plug Wallet. ckBTC is a decentralized twin of Bitcoin that has a 1:1 backing with the cryptocurrency.
- DFINITY added new grantees in Gaming, DeFi, and Infrastructure. They featured Orally Network’s cross-chain oracle with HTTP calls, Bink8’s alternative to Linktree on web3, and Blotch’s social media game platform.
- PostFinance, a Swiss government-owned entity, has announced new crypto services in partnership with Sygnum Official. The Internet Computer (ICP) will be supported for institutional-grade custody and staking solutions. The move signifies Switzerland’s embrace of crypto.

- The Yumi Team expressed gratitude to the community for their participation in the 1-year anniversary event. They attributed the success to the community’s support and feedback, helping improve their services and enhance the user experience.
- Eimolad celebrated the one-year anniversary of starting Eimolad Game. They’ve been working hard to create innovative gameplay elements that challenge traditional game rules. They are excited to announce their first game testing and the launch of a marketplace.
- Plug Wallet has announced the availability of swaps within their wallet. The feature was enabled with the help of ICLighthouse. Users can start swapping by updating to version 0.6.4.
- Island Collective’s ICPlaces grant is one of the successful grantees that showed the possibility of VR on ICP. The grant demonstrated the potential for building digital immersive experiences on ICP.
- Demergent Labs has recently released version 0.14.0 of Azle. Among the new features are generics for variants and records, a Result algebraic data type, a Result matching function, and guard functions.
